How do I fix this hole in my mouth?

Whether you have lost one tooth or several due to injury, periodontal disease, or cavities, a dental implant is the ideal way to “fix that hole” in your mouth. A dental implant is an anchor that a periodontist or oral surgeon places into the jaw to replace the root of your tooth. Once in place and after the bone and gums surrounding the implant have had time to heal, a replacement tooth is attached to the anchor.

Dental implants are highly aesthetic since they look and feel like your natural teeth. They preserve bone, are stronger than natural teeth, and generally last 10-20 years. They are better than bridges because they don’t depend on neighboring teeth for support.
